Show who wrote each page

Give every article a byline that links to an author page. The author page says who the person is, what they know and how to reach them, and the article's structured data names the same person.

How to do it

Google strongly encourages accurate authorship, such as bylines where readers expect them, and warns against deceptive author information. List the author's experience on their page, such as years in the trade, certificates or projects, with links to proof. Point the article's author to a Person with the author page's url. Never invent an author or a credential. When AI helped write a page, say how it was made where a reader would wonder, as Google's guide suggests. Show the dates as Show the same date to people and machines says.

Examples

HTML example

<p class="byline">By <a href="/team/maria-lind">Maria Lind</a>, floor fitter since 2009</p>
<script type="application/ld+json">
{ "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "Article", "headline": "Why oak floors turn grey",
  "author": { "@type": "Person", "name": "Maria Lind", "url": "https://example.com/team/maria-lind" } }
</script>

How to check

A build test reads every article. It has a visible byline linking to an author page that answers 200, and its JSON-LD author.url equals that link.
