Buying an expired domain for its old standing

Buying an expired domain and filling it with unrelated content to use its old reputation. Examples are affiliate pages on a former charity's domain or casino pages on a former school's domain.

How to do it

Google's spam policies call this expired domain abuse when the domain is bought and reused mainly to manipulate rankings. Buying a domain for a new business is fine, such as a short name that fits your brand. Start it fresh, and never redirect its old addresses to unrelated pages. Move your own domains as Move a site or domain without losing links says.

How to check

The domain list records, for each bought domain, its earlier topic from an archive such as the Wayback Machine. No bought domain serves content on an unrelated topic at its old addresses.
