Let sellers sell only while the provider has verified them

Read each seller's verification status from the platform provider's events. Hide a seller's offers while charges are disabled or verification items are past due.

How to do it

Anti-money laundering law requires checks on each seller's identity, business and bank account. The platform product in Collect money for other sellers through a platform product runs them. It may ask for more at any time, such as when sales grow. Listen for account update events, store the status and the list of items due, and show the seller what to send. Stop new sales when the provider turns charges off, not when the first payout fails. The trader details the Digital Services Act asks for are in Check traders before they sell on your marketplace.

Examples

JavaScript example

export async function onAccountUpdated(account) {
  await sellers.update(account.id, {
    canSell: account.charges_enabled,
    canBePaid: account.payouts_enabled,
    itemsDue: [...account.requirements.past_due, ...account.requirements.currently_due],
  })
  if (!account.charges_enabled) await offers.hideForSeller(account.id)
}

Python example

def on_account_updated(account) -> None:
    sellers.update(
        account.id,
        can_sell=account.charges_enabled,
        can_be_paid=account.payouts_enabled,
        items_due=[*account.requirements.past_due, *account.requirements.currently_due],
    )
    if not account.charges_enabled:
        offers.hide_for_seller(account.id)

How to check

A test sends an account update event with charges disabled for a seller. Their offers disappear from search and checkout within one minute. An event that turns charges back on brings them back.
