Agent Wranglers

Text messages Required

Register every sender before you send

Send texts only from numbers or sender IDs registered for that country and use case. Never send business texts from an unregistered number.

How to do it

In the US, register your brand and each campaign for 10DLC local numbers through The Campaign Registry. Carriers have blocked unregistered 10DLC traffic since February 2025. Toll-free numbers need toll-free verification, and short codes need their own approval. Alphanumeric sender IDs, such as ExampleShop, are not supported in the US or Canada. Countries such as India require them registered before use. Your provider, such as Twilio, Vonage or Sinch, lists the rules per country. Keep one campaign per use case, such as one for sign-in codes and one for marketing.

Example

// One sender per country and use case, read from settings, never typed inline
export const SMS_SENDERS = {
  US: { verification: '+12025550142', marketing: '+12025550143' },
  SE: { verification: 'ExampleShop', marketing: 'ExampleShop' },
};
export const senderFor = (country, useCase) => {
  const sender = SMS_SENDERS[country]?.[useCase];
  if (!sender) throw new Error(`No registered SMS sender for ${country} ${useCase}`);
  return sender;
};
SMS_SENDERS = {
    "US": {"verification": "+12025550142", "marketing": "+12025550143"},
    "SE": {"verification": "ExampleShop", "marketing": "ExampleShop"},
}

def sender_for(country: str, use_case: str) -> str:
    sender = SMS_SENDERS.get(country, {}).get(use_case)
    if sender is None:
        raise LookupError(f"No registered SMS sender for {country} {use_case}")
    return sender

How to check

Every sending number and sender ID in the provider account maps to an approved registration. A staging send to each target country arrives with the expected sender.
