Link only to your own domain in texts

Put links in texts only on a domain you own, over HTTPS. Never use a public link shortener such as bit.ly or tinyurl.com.

How to do it

US carriers filter texts that carry shared shorteners, because spammers use them heavily. Twilio rejects toll-free verification when sample messages hold bit.ly, goo.gl, t.co or tinyurl.com. A short path on your own domain, such as example.com/o/1042, keeps the text short and shows who sent it. Use the same domain in the samples for Register every sender before you send. The rest follows Send only links people can trust.

How to check

A template test renders every text with sample data. It fails on any link that is not https or whose host is not one of your own domains.
