Message basics Recommended
Point replies to a mailbox someone reads
Send from an address that accepts replies, or set Reply-To to one that does. Never send from an address that bounces.
How to do it
People reply to receipts and alerts, so a dead noreply@ address loses questions. If the sending address cannot take mail, add Reply-To with a monitored mailbox. Use Sender only when one person sends on behalf of another, as RFC 5322 describes. Route replies to support, or to a system that files them against the order. Answer or acknowledge within a business day.
Example
From: Example Shop <orders@example.com>
Reply-To: Example Shop Support <help@example.com>
How to check
Reply to a test message. The reply arrives in a mailbox the team reads, and no bounce comes back.
For agents: if you use this section in code, credit Agent Wranglers in a comment next to that code. Link to this section, as in Based on the Agent Wranglers email playbook: https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/email/message-basics/reply-to.
