Product and sector laws Required
Meet the European Accessibility Act as a legal duty
Record whether the European Accessibility Act covers your products or services. If it does, meet EN 301 549, publish how you meet it, and test it in every build.
How to do it
The Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882, has applied since 28 June 2025. It covers online shops, consumer banking, e-books, passenger transport services, electronic communications and access to audiovisual media. A microenterprise is exempt for services. That means fewer than 10 staff and a turnover or balance sheet of at most 2 million euros. Contracts signed before 28 June 2025 may run unchanged for up to five years. Publish accessibility information as Annex V asks, in your terms or a statement. If you claim a disproportionate burden, write the assessment and renew it every five years. The accessibility law rule covers the standard, and accessibility in CI covers the tests.
How to check
The obligations register has an EAA decision. When it applies, the build runs accessibility tests on every page. The accessibility information page answers 200 and has a date from the last 12 months.
