Say when people talk to an AI
Tell people when they are talking to an AI system, and label AI-made images, audio and video that could pass as genuine.
How to do it
Say it at the start of a chat or call, unless it is obvious. Mark generated media in a machine-readable way, for example with C2PA content credentials or a watermark from your model provider. Label deepfakes and AI-written news text visibly. In the EU, Article 50 of the AI Act has applied since 2 August 2026. Generative systems on the market before then have until 2 December 2026 for machine-readable marking. See also label AI output where people see it and map each feature to its transparency duty.
How to check
Open every AI feature as a new visitor. Each one says it is an AI before or at the first answer. A metadata reader, such as a C2PA verify tool, finds a label in each generated file.
