Limit prefetch proxies only if needed

Publish /.well-known/traffic-advice only to limit private prefetch proxies, which load pages early for privacy browsers. Leaving it out welcomes them.

By Erik Bergstedt, Agent Wranglers. Updated 20 October 2026.

How to do it

Serve a JSON list that sets the share of prefetch traffic you accept, as application/trafficadvice+json. Set fraction to 0 to turn them away.

Example

[{ "user_agent": "prefetch-proxy", "fraction": 0.5 }]

How to check

The file answers 200 with that content type.
