# Answer account lookups

- Rule: If you have accounts that others look up, answer `/.well-known/webfinger` queries.
- How: Answer `?resource=acct:…` with a JRD document, a small JSON file about the account. Send it as `application/jrd+json`, with `Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *`.
- Check: `curl -sI 'https://example.com/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:ana@example.com'` answers 200 as `application/jrd+json` with `Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *`. An unknown account answers 404.
