# Serve phones the same content

By Erik Bergstedt, Agent Wranglers. Updated 2026-10-20.

- Level: Required
- Chapter: [SEO](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/website/seo)
- Rule: Give phone visitors the same content, links, metadata and structured data as desktop visitors. Google indexes the phone version of every page.
- How: Use one responsive page for every screen. Never drop text, links, images or JSON-LD on narrow screens. If content folds away on phones, keep it in the HTML, such as inside `<details>`. Never serve a separate cut-down mobile page.
- Check: Fetch each page type once with a phone user agent and once with a desktop one. The `h1`, link count, canonical and JSON-LD match.

Example:

```sh
ua_phone='Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 14; Pixel 8) Mobile'
diff <(curl -s -A "$ua_phone" https://example.com/pricing | grep -o '<a href="[^"]*"' | sort) \
     <(curl -s https://example.com/pricing | grep -o '<a href="[^"]*"' | sort)
```
