# Explain what you keep and why

- Rule: Publish a full privacy policy, linked from every page. It says who you are, what you collect and why, the legal basis, retention, recipients, rights and complaints.
- How: Write the policy from a data map that lists each purpose with its data, legal basis, recipients, transfers and retention. Explain how to use each right and how to complain to a supervisory authority. These are the points GDPR Articles 13 and 14 require. Date it and link it from every footer.
- Check: A test confirms every page links to the policy. A second test fetches the policy and finds a heading for each Article 13 item, from the controller's identity to the right to complain.
