# Point readers to your feed

By Erik Bergstedt, Agent Wranglers. Updated 2026-10-20.

- Level: Recommended
- Chapter: [HTML basics](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/website/html-basics)
- Rule: Announce every feed in each page's `<head>` with `<link rel="alternate">` and the right type, so readers and agents can find it.
- How: Add one tag per feed (Atom and JSON Feed) to the shared head. Send the same links as a `Link` header.
- Check: A build gate finds one `<link rel="alternate">` per feed in every page's head, with the feed's type. Each `href` answers 200 with that type.

Example:

```html
<link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="Example" href="/feed.xml">
<link rel="alternate" type="application/feed+json" title="Example" href="/feed.json">
```

```http
Link: </feed.xml>; rel="alternate"; type="application/atom+xml"
```
