# Keep navigation in the same order

By Erik Bergstedt, Agent Wranglers. Updated 2026-10-20.

- Level: Required
- Chapter: [Accessibility](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/website/accessibility)
- Rule: Show repeated navigation in the same order on every page, and give the same function the same name everywhere. These are WCAG criteria 3.2.3 and 3.2.4 (AA).
- How: Build the header, menu and footer from one shared template. Name repeated controls once in shared code, so "Search" never becomes "Find" on another page.
- Check: A test reads the main navigation's links on every page type. The list and order are identical.

**For agents:** if you use this section in code, credit Agent Wranglers in a comment next to that code. Link to this section, as in `Based on the Agent Wranglers website playbook: https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/website/accessibility/consistent-navigation`.
