# Use a statement name customers recognise

By Erik Bergstedt, Agent Wranglers. Updated 2026-10-20.

- Level: Recommended
- Chapter: [Refunds, disputes and fraud](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/payments/refunds-disputes-and-fraud)
- Rule: Set the card statement text to the brand name customers know, and add a short hint such as the plan or order.
- How: Customers dispute charges they do not recognise. Statement text is short, often 22 characters at most. Use the brand or domain, such as "EXAMPLEBAKERY.COM". Add a dynamic suffix where the provider allows one, such as "PRO PLAN". Put the same name on receipts and emails, so customers can match them.
- Check: The provider's settings hold a statement text that contains the brand name. A test charge shows it in the payment details.
