# Sell digital goods through the store's billing

- Rule: Unlock digital features and content in the app only through the store's in-app purchase. Physical goods and services used outside the app use your own checkout.
- Risk: Money lost or taken twice
- Applies when: The project takes payments.
- How: Subscriptions, credits, levels and premium content are digital goods on both stores. License keys and QR codes that unlock features break Apple's rules. Rides, deliveries and shipped goods use your own checkout, as in [choose a checkout that keeps you on SAQ A](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/payments/checkout-and-card-data/pci-saq-a-integration). Each store has exceptions by region and app type. Apple allows links to outside purchases in its United States storefront and lets reader apps sign in to earlier purchases. Google Play runs alternative billing and external offers programs in some countries. Read the current program terms before you link out, and record which one you use. - Check: Search the app for links and buttons to your own checkout. Each one sells a physical good or service, or sits behind a store program that is on for that country.
