# Keep transactional mail free of marketing

- Rule: Keep receipts, password resets and security alerts free of advertising, so they stay transactional and reach people who unsubscribed from marketing.
- How: Send only what the person asked for or needs to know. A promotion inside a receipt can make it marketing under the law, and it then needs consent and an unsubscribe link.
- Check: A test password reset contains no offers, banners or newsletter content.
