# Send only to people who asked

- Rule: Add an address to a marketing list only after its owner confirms by clicking a link. Never buy, rent or scrape lists.
- How: After sign-up, send one confirmation email and add the address only when the link is clicked. Put no marketing in that email. Store when and where consent was given. Rate-limit sign-ups per address and per client, so bots cannot flood a stranger with confirmations. Bought lists contain spam traps and people who never agreed, and they ruin reputation fast.
- Check: Sign up with a test address and don't click the link. No marketing email reaches it.
