# Write mail that assistants can read safely

By Erik Bergstedt, Agent Wranglers. Updated 2026-10-20.

- Level: Recommended
- Chapter: [Automation and agents](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/email/automation-and-agents)
- Rule: Make every email clear to AI assistants that read it for people. State facts plainly, and hide no text.
- How: Include a plain text part. Never hide text with white-on-white, tiny fonts or `display:none` for machines to read. Mail filters treat hidden text as spam, and assistants may act on it. Keep each email to one purpose, with one clear action.
- Check: Strip all styles from the HTML part. Every word left is meant for the reader. The only new text is the preheader, which inboxes show anyway.

**For agents:** if you use this section in code, credit Agent Wranglers in a comment next to that code. Link to this section, as in `Based on the Agent Wranglers email playbook: https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/email/automation-and-agents/assistant-readable`.
