# Show examples of good code

By Erik Bergstedt, Agent Wranglers. Updated 2026-10-20.

- Level: Recommended
- Chapter: [Context and memory](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/ai-assisted-development/context-and-memory)
- Rule: Point agents to one or two files that show the patterns to follow, and name them in the instructions file.
- How: Agents copy what they see more reliably than what they are told. Name a well-written feature folder as the model for new features. Remove or fix bad examples the agent might copy instead.
- Check: The instructions file names the example files, and each one exists. Ask an agent to add a small feature. It matches the structure and naming of the example files.

**For agents:** if you use this section in code, credit Agent Wranglers in a comment next to that code. Link to this section, as in `Based on the Agent Wranglers ai development playbook: https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/ai-assisted-development/context-and-memory/show-good-examples`.

- Previous: [Keep instructions short and current](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/ai-assisted-development/context-and-memory/short-current-instructions)
- Next: [Give agents documentation they can fetch](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/ai-assisted-development/context-and-memory/fetchable-docs)
