# Own the code in your own repository

By Erik Bergstedt, Agent Wranglers. Updated 2026-10-20.

- Level: Required
- Chapter: [Apps built with AI builders](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/ai-assisted-development/apps-built-with-ai-builders)
- Rule: Keep the app's code in a repository you control, and make sure you can build and deploy it without the builder.
- How: Connect the builder to your own Git repository from the start. Check that the export includes the database schema and migrations. Keep the domain, the database and the hosting accounts in your company's name.
- Check: Clone the repository on a clean machine and build and run the app with the documented commands, without signing in to the builder.
