# Let people export their data themselves

- Rule: Offer a download of a person's data from settings, in JSON or CSV, ready within 24 hours.
- How: The [data requests rule](https://agentwranglers.se/playbook/website/privacy/data-requests) sets what to include. Ask for fresh proof before starting. Build the file in a background job, then email a link that needs sign-in and expires in 7 days. A personal export holds that person's data. Organisation data is exported by owners, from the organisation's settings. Allow one export a day per person.
- Check: Ask for an export on a test account with data in every store. A link arrives within 24 hours, it opens only when signed in, and the file holds data from every store.
